CS ArtisanRV provides a comprehensive and highly efficient workflow for creating, managing, visualising, and quantifying detailed planting within Autodesk Revit. By combining authoritative cloud-based plant data with intelligent BIM automation, ArtisanRV enables landscape professionals to deliver planting designs that are both visually compelling and technically robust.
At the heart of the workflow are cloud-based planting libraries, from which users create project-specific plant palettes. These palettes are downloaded to local machines or network locations, allowing designers to access approved plant selections directly within Revit. Planting can then be placed as individual specimens, linear planting, or area planting, with Revit families generated dynamically as required. This approach eliminates the need to maintain large family libraries while ensuring that planting objects remain consistent with project specifications.
ArtisanRV automatically generates appropriate plan graphics, plant tags, and 3D planting geometry based on the selected species and specification. Plant representations can be visualised at planting size or aged by a defined number of years, allowing designers to assess future growth and understand the long-term character of the landscape. Mature height and spread calculations help communicate design intent and support informed decision-making throughout the design process.
A wide range of display, tagging, and visualisation options enables planting information to be presented appropriately at every project stage, from conceptual design through to construction documentation. All planting data is fully integrated with Revit schedules, providing automatic quantities and detailed planting information for specification, procurement, and project reporting.
Powerful editing tools allow planting schemes to evolve efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. Functions such as plant replacement and substitution make it easy to update designs while maintaining data integrity and documentation accuracy. The Plant Browser acts as a central management interface, allowing users to review, locate, edit, and manage all ArtisanRV planting objects within the current Revit project from a single location.
Detailed Planting in CS ArtisanRV fully supports the recognised horticultural standards used throughout the landscaping industry. For users in the United Kingdom and Europe, planting complies with the National Plant Specification (NPS), supporting metric-based plant selection, specification, and delivery practices.
For landscape professionals working in North America, ArtisanRV also supports the ANSI nursery stock standard, enabling plant data and specifications to be defined using established US industry practices and imperial measurements. Users can switch dynamically between NPS and ANSI standards when creating project palettes using the cloud-based Palette Builder.
Both specification systems define plant characteristics such as height, spread, container sizes, root types, and nursery stock classifications according to accepted regional trade practices. By supporting both standards within a single platform, ArtisanRV enables landscape professionals to work confidently across international projects while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and compliance with local industry requirements.

By integrating authoritative plant data with intelligent BIM workflows, CS ArtisanRV enables landscape professionals to design, coordinate, visualise, and document planting schemes more effectively within the Revit environment.
Place planting into Revit© model as single plants, hedges, avenues, planting beds or woodlands. Planting can be placed as either single species/varieties or as a mix defined by a number of components, associated specifications and percentages. Areas can also be over-planted if planting has already been applied.
Palettes - Open Palette Builder to create and manage palettes
Create Planting - Place planting in the Revit© model as individual specimens, linear items (hedges, avenues), areas (beds, woodlands).
Edit Planting - Planting sunbsistutions and change specification information, planting centres values and location information
Age Planting - Grow planting Singular, Linear Planting or Area Planting and Age Planting in model By Year.
Add Planting Edge - Add a vegetation boundary graphic to a planting area.
Re-Load Planting - Recreate planting information in all Revit© views.
Planting Schedules - Load pre-defined planting schedules into current model.

Download Palettes - Connect to CSD Palette Builder to download palettes to local machine
Notes
Planting is placed by selecting from user defined palettes created via the Cloud based Palette Builder.
Plants are placed directly on the underlying topography, floor, region or area and are sized in 2D and 3D based on the specification information.
Sophisticated Age Planting routines enable planting to be grown by year (4D) based on the ultimate height/spread and years to maturity by Plant Type.
Schedules dynamically reflect all changes to planting placed in Revit© .
