Age Planting

Previous topicNext topic

Introductory Summary

The Age Planting tool enables landscape professionals to simulate plant growth over time by automatically adjusting the age and size characteristics of planting within a Revit model. This provides a practical way to visualise how a landscape scheme may develop from initial establishment through to maturity, supporting design evaluation, client presentations, and long-term landscape planning.

By applying age-based growth changes to selected planting, users can assess the future spatial impact of planting proposals, compare different stages of development, and generate more realistic representations of landscape evolution. The tool can be used on individual plants or larger planting schemes, helping designers communicate planting intent and expected growth outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

Command

Age Planting is available from the Planting panel.

Purpose

To enable users to grow models by year based on ultimate height/spread values and years to maturity...

CS ArtisanRV Planting information includes Ultimate Height/Spread values and Years to Maturity. Rate of growth is calculated based on the initial (calculated) planting age and the years to achieve its mature height/spread.

The Age Planting routine calculates the size of plants dynamically as users move a slider bar.

CS ArtisanRV Age Planting provides an immediate and accurate representation of plant massing over time which is beneficial for visualisation purposes. The Age Planting routine forms a fundamental part of additional utilities such as Shadow Analysis to interrogate a model for the anticipated percentage of shadow cast onto a targetted external space.
