Substitute Planting

Introductory Summary

The Substitute Planting tool provides a quick and efficient way to replace planting throughout a Revit model when design requirements, specifications or plant availability change. Users can substitute individual plants, planting mixes or multiple instances of the same species without manually editing each placement, helping to maintain accurate planting schedules, specifications and model data while significantly reducing the time required to implement revisions.

Command

Substitute Planting is available from the Create Detail menu in the Planting panel.

Purpose

Users are able to create detail planting from Concept Planting content or to substitute current detailed planting for alternative detailed planting.

Usage

Select Substitute Planting and select Concept Planting content in the model to convert to Detailed Planting .

Select Substitute Planting and select Detailed Planting content in the model to substitute for alternative Detailed Planting .

Notes

Converting Concept Planting content in the model to detailed planting will delete the former concept content from the model. If users want to retain concept planting content, this can be achieved either by retaining earlier Revit models for future reference or by using Revit phases to record concept and detailed content separately and ensuring that separate area and linear planting host objects are created for concept and detailed planting content.
