Standard Workflow - Planting Labels

Purpose

The Planting Labels tools are used to create, manage, and update planting annotations within an Artisan project. Planting labels provide clear identification of plant species, quantities, and planting information on drawings, ensuring coordination between planting plans, schedules, and construction documentation.

Standard Workflow

1. Prepare the Planting Design

Before creating labels:

2. Review Label Settings

Before placing labels:

  1. Open the planting label settings.
  2. Review project annotation standards.
  3. Select the appropriate label style.
  4. Confirm text height and display settings.
  5. Verify leader and callout options where applicable.
  6. Save any project-specific label preferences.

3. Create Planting Labels

To label planting information:

  1. Select the Planting Labels tool.
  2. Choose the plant or planting area to label.
  3. Apply the appropriate label style.
  4. Position the label in a clear location.
  5. Add leaders if required.
  6. Confirm the label displays the correct plant information.

4. Label Planting Areas

For mass planting areas:

  1. Select the planting area.
  2. Generate the area label.
  3. Verify species names and quantities.
  4. Position the label for maximum readability.
  5. Ensure the label does not obscure important drawing information.

5. Label Individual Plants

For specimen or feature planting:

  1. Select the plant object.
  2. Generate an individual plant label.
  3. Confirm botanical naming and plant specification information.
  4. Position the label appropriately.
  5. Review leader placement and presentation.

6. Update Labels Following Design Changes

When planting designs are modified:

  1. Review existing plant labels.
  2. Update labels linked to changed planting information.
  3. Regenerate labels where necessary.
  4. Verify all quantities and species references remain correct.
  5. Remove obsolete labels.

7. Review Drawing Presentation

Before issuing drawings:

8. Coordinate with Planting Schedules

To maintain consistency:

  1. Compare labels against planting schedules.
  2. Verify species names match schedule information.
  3. Confirm quantities are consistent.
  4. Resolve any discrepancies.
  5. Regenerate schedules if required.

9. Validate and Save

Before finalising the drawing:

Recommended Standard Practice

  1. Complete planting design development.
  2. Review project label standards.
  3. Generate labels for planting areas and individual plants.
  4. Position labels for clarity and readability.
  5. Coordinate labels with planting schedules.
  6. Review the drawing presentation.
  7. Perform quality assurance checks.
  8. Save and issue project documentation.

Typical Planting Label Tasks

Task Purpose
Create Plant Labels Identify plants on drawings
Label Planting Areas Annotate grouped planting schemes
Label Individual Plants Identify specimen planting
Update Labels Maintain drawing accuracy after revisions
Coordinate with Schedules Ensure documentation consistency
Manage Annotation Styles Maintain project standards
