Seed Mixes

Purpose

Grass and wildflower seed mixes are an essential component of contemporary landscape design, providing cost-effective and sustainable solutions for creating biodiverse grasslands, amenity turf, wildflower meadows, and ecological habitats. CS ArtisanRV enables landscape professionals to specify, model, and document seed mixes directly within the Revit environment, ensuring planting information remains coordinated throughout the design process.

The Seed Mixes tools allow users to select and place grass and wildflower seed mixes within model areas, creating an accurate representation of seeded landscapes as part of the BIM model. Custom Seed Mix palettes can be developed to reflect project standards, supplier specifications, or regional planting requirements, making it easy to manage and reuse commonly specified mixes across projects.

In addition to placement tools, CS ArtisanRV provides comprehensive editing and management capabilities for seed mix areas. Users can define sowing rates, supplier information, and specification data, while also controlling graphical settings such as tags, fill patterns, edge details, and area boundaries. This ensures that both design intent and technical information are clearly communicated within project documentation.

Seed mixes can be tagged and scheduled automatically, with schedules providing dynamic calculations of seeded areas and associated quantities, including seed weight requirements based on specified application rates. As the design evolves, schedules update automatically, helping to improve accuracy, reduce manual calculations, and support procurement and specification workflows.

Standard ArtisanRV Seed Mixes Workflow

Within this section of the Help system, you will learn how to:

  • Create and manage Seed Mix palettes.
  • Place grass and wildflower seed mixes in model areas.
  • Edit seed mix properties and sowing rates.
  • Apply tags and control graphical representation.
  • Calculate and schedule seed quantities by area and weight.
  • Generate documentation and material take-offs from model data.

By integrating seeded landscape areas directly into the BIM workflow, CS ArtisanRV helps streamline the specification, quantification, and management of grass and wildflower planting throughout the project lifecycle.

Usage

Open Palette Builder - Open Palette Builder to create and manage palettes

Edit Seed Mixes Palette  - Create and modify seed mixes palettes.

Create Seed Mix Planting  - Place seed mixes in model.

Edit Seed Mixes  - Modify seed mixes placed in model.

Seed Mix Schedules  - quntify seed mixes placed in model

Notes

Seed Mixes are placed by selecting from user defined palettes created via the Cloud based Palette Builder.

Seed Mixes are placed directly on the underlying topography, floor, region or area.

Schedules dynamically reflect all changes to seed mixes placed in Revit© .
